Couple sues cruise line after being kicked off for “loud sex”

A German couple is suing TUI Cruises after their “loud sex” allegedly get them kicked off a cruise after just one day at sea.

German travel publication, Reise Reporter, said the couple, Renate F and her husband Volker were kicked-off the cruise and stranded in Barbados for two days.

The couple claimed they were kicked off TUI cruise ship Mein Schiff 5 because they were too loud while having sex and during an argument which followed.

According to Reise Reporter, the couple forgot to close the balcony door and Renate admitted the sex was “a bit loud” but stressed it was consensual. She said there was an argument afterwards which was not violent and did not cause damage to the cabin.

Following the argument, Volker was taking a shower while Renate smoked a cigarette on the balcony when a security manager knocked on the door and took the couple to a man. Renate said she could not remember his name or job title.

The man told the couple they would have to leave the ship following the captain’s orders.

Though Renate did not say the reason given for their forced departure from the ship, she said she couldn’t think of any reason besides the loud sex and the argument.

TUI told Reise Reporter the couple were asked to leave due to a “security-related incident”.

“This was done to protect the guests themselves and other fellow travellers,” the cruise line said in a statement.

“There has already been a correspondence with Mrs F. in which we have set out our view of things. Please understand that we do not want to comment on the privacy of our guests in detail.”

After two days stranded in Barbados, the couple managed to get on a flight to Paris where they stayed overnight before boarding a flight back to Frankfurt.

They are now suing the cruise line for more than $15,000 in damages and compensation, mostly to cover the cost of the cruise they didn’t get to go on.
