In one of the most unique moves we’ve seen in a cruise itinerary, Royal Caribbean just announced new itineraries that will stop at the same port twice in a single cruise.
That port of call with two stops? Royal Caribbean’s very own Perfect Day at CocoCay in the Bahamas.
The island has been a port of call for Royal Caribbean for years, but it recently underwent a dramatic renovation costing a staggering $250 million. Today CocoCay is unlike any other port in the world.
Come ashore on the private island and you’ll find a 33,000 square foot pool, white sand beaches, a full waterpark (including a 135-foot waterslide that’s the tallest in North America), and even kid’s splash parks.
According to Royal Caribbean, the new changes are a huge hit with passengers. On a recent earnings call, the CEO of Royal Caribbean Richard Fain went to far as to say that “to describe Perfect Day as a home run wouldn’t do it justice.”
Now the company seems to be backing up that talk. In total, 40 sailing are now slated to make two stops to CocoCay according to a press release from the company:
“The cruise line has revealed new, 4-night itineraries that now tout two visits to the industry’s leading private island destination. In one short getaway, guests will have twice the time to thrill and chill on their choice of nearly 40 sailings beginning Sept. 30, 2019.”
The cruises with two stops are aboard the Mariner of the Seas and the Navigator of the Seas. These two ships sail from Port Canaveral and Miami, respectively, on four-night trips. In between each stop the trips also make a call at Nassau.
This announcement is a huge shift in how cruise lines “normally” do things. Frankly, we’ve never heard of a line doing two stops to the same port before. But then again, we’ve never seen a port of call like Perfect Day at CocoCay either. You can see the cruises sailing twice to CocoCay here.
