Carnival Pauses Plan to Charge for Room Service on Cruises

Last week, Cruise Fever reported that Carnival Cruise Line was going to roll out an à la carte room service menu that will replace the current free menu on their 26 cruise ships.

After listening to complaints about the new charges, Carnival Cruise Line Brand Ambassador John Heald posted the following message on his Facebook page about the cruise line’s plan to pause these new charges:

“Hello everyone, hope you are all having a brilliant Sunday.

I had previously told you about changes to our room service offerings that would go into effect in January.

I wanted to let you know that we are in the process of making some adjustments to that plan to balance the interests of our guests with our efforts to reduce food waste costs.

For the time being then, there will be no changes until we finalise a plan that will I will communicate to you all.

Cheers and have a brilliant day.

PLEASE SHARE WITH ONE PERSON” – John Heald

This is good news (for now) for Carnival cruisers who enjoy complimentary room service on cruises.  Cruise Fever will have the latest when Carnival Cruise Line makes adjustments to this room service menu that is now on hold.

  1. This will only be the start. They will then impose it on all cruise lines under their wing. The usual, keep raising prices while lowering services. It’s more money grubbing.

  2. I agree 100%… How can they say “Oh, by the way” ???
I’m booked for February 3rd and they didn’t tell me about the increase when I agreed to their contract !

  3. I never use room service it’s just not my thing !!!! but the food waste is terrible !!! plus it looks nasty to have all those trays laying in the hallway !!! besides the housekeeping staff have enough to do there not your mother !!!!

  4. Thank You for doing this. I believe that Platinum and higher members should still receive it free. You have added more fees already. We have order stuff to be delivered to my daughters cabin and I’m being charged a delivery fee. Really, that’s absurd. Again especially for platinum members. You over charge for drinks as it is. You charge to have dinner in other rooms, why cant the same food be served in the regular dining rooms free of charge? You charge enough for taking a cruise, why nickle an dime us. A lot will stop cruising for this reason, when they can go else where cheaper. A cruise included ALL FOOD FREE, now you want us to pay for it. I’m happy it will remain free for a little while. I will be cruising on Jan 19th. Hope I have a good time with my family. Please no surprises.
    Thank You
