Take A Look Inside Virgin Voyages' Adults Only Cruise Ship, The Scarlet Lady
"No kids, no buffets, and no limits."
Richard Branson's Virgin America airline was known to have the party planes, with their dance club-like cabin lights and friendly, down-to-earth service. Now, the business mogul is venturing into a different kind of travel experience with his new cruise line, Virgin Voyages. As of February 14, bookings are open for voyages departing from April 1 through October 25, 2020.
The new line advertises "no kids, no buffets, and no limits," and everything we know about the ship so far lives up to that promise. Take a look around the Scarlet Lady, a 2,700-passenger (or sailor, as Richard would have you call his guests) ship, and its forthcoming facilities, from the bars to the pool to the cave-inspired spa. Noticeably missing? Any kids' play areas. The ship is geared toward adults, with an 18-years-and-up age requirement for guests boarding the ship.
As for the food, you heard that right—this is the first cruise line to forego the traditional buffet. "We came to the conclusion it didn't make sense for us," Virgin told Delish. Instead, sailors will find a mix of Eataly-inspired food halls based on food-centric cities like New York and Mexico City, food "trucks," and fine dining experiences. There's even a boozy drag brunch, and the promise of many Instagrammable moments throughout the journey.
Take in that Vitamin Sea.
The crux of this new ship is its emphasis on well-being. "Inspired by the oceans and their importance in the health and well-being for our planet and our daily lives," the ships are designed to leave travelers feeling rejuvenated. Lounging by this pool is a good place to start.
Hang out at The Dock.
The outdoor lounge is meant to resemble the lounges you'd see in the Hamptons, Ibiza, and Bali.
You can grab complimentary filtered still and sparkling water at all bars and restaurants.
And there's plenty of seating....
Plus an outdoor bar.
Hang out at the sports bar.
Located near the ship's Athletic Club, this outdoor bar has games and seating steps away from a Jacuzzi and pool.
What about the food?
The Test Kitchen, one of the restaurant's on board, has a distinct entrance: it's decorated with a food-inspired periodic table.
Through the doors, there's a fun laboratory-like dining area decked out with test tubes, beakers, and flasks.
There's a Mexican restaurant, too.
Pink Agave has group seating, metallic blue lamps, and plenty of booze.
Enjoy brunch at Razzle Dazzle.
Richard's team is taking boozy brunch out to sea with a drag-themed venue and a menu featuring delights like Milk Fairy Bread.
Go to a dance party at The Manor.
The Scarlet Lady's signature dance club was inspired by Richard's time in the music industry (hi, Virgin Records!).
Or sip champagne in the lounge.
The ballroom is stunning.
Look at those chandeliers!
And the spa is what I imagine heaven to look like.
It's inspired by an underwater cave, with luxe offerings like a hydrotherapy pool, mud room, salt room, cold plunge pools, quartz beds, and rejuvenating spa treatments.
You'll want to work out in this gym.
Just look at those views! Strength, spin, yoga and cardio classes will be held. There's an outdoor training zone, including a boxing ring, strength and gymnastics equipment, too.
And then jump in the pool for a quick cool-off.
Some great naps will be had on these couches.
The Beach Club at Bimini will host guests on shore.
Programming "will rival the best beach clubs in Ibiza and Saint-Tropez;" they're not kidding—Mark Ronson was named the founding DJ of the club.
