Cruise Line Shuts Down In-Room Babysitting Program on Cruises

Royal Caribbean is ending Sitters at Sea, an in-room babysitting service that was available on their cruise ships.  The program allowed guests to have their children watched in their own staterooms during cruises.

The cruise line posted the following update letting guests know that the Sitters at Sea program will be ending on September 30, 2018:

“As of September 30th, 2018 we are discontinuing our in-stateroom babysitting, Sitters at Sea. We’ve made this decision as we are unable to consistently guarantee this service on every sailing. If your sailing departs prior to September 30th, 2018, we will happily accommodate your request if sitters are available. Once onboard, please visit Guest Services regarding availability during your cruise.

Please know, our Adventure Ocean and Royal Babies & Tots programs remain unchanged and we still offer “Late Night Party Zone” group sitting by our Adventure Ocean Youth staff for children between the ages of 3-11 between the hours of 10 PM to 1 AM for $7.00 USD/hour.”

Royal Caribbean’s Sitter at Sea program offered in-room babysitting between the hours of 8:00 am and 2:00 am.  The cost was $19 per hour for up to three children of the same family.  Children had to be at at least one year old.

Reservations were made through Guest Relations and had to be done at least 24 hours in advance.

The service was offered when personnel were available.  Due to the cruise line not being able to consistently provide sitters, they will be shutting down this program at the end of the month.
