Update: The Star Pride is back under full power and is currently underway to Newport, Rhode Island, for a U.S. Coast Guard inspection. Upon completion of the inspection the ship will resume the scheduled itinerary to New York.

Original Article: A cruise ship carrying 350 people is currently adrift in Buzzards Bay after losing power this afternoon.

The U.S. Coast Guard was notified shortly after 3:15 pm that Star Pride had lost power.  The cruise ship is currently between Martha’s Vineyard and Woods Hole. Commercial tug boats are en route to assist the vessel.

It is currently unknown at this time what caused the cruise ship to lose power.  The ship was on its way to New York after spending the past few weeks visiting ports in Canada and Iceland.  Star Pride was scheduled to arrive in New
